Why choose car forgings?

Today's cars do not increase prices as prices rise, so it is inevitable to save as much as possible in all aspects. Everyone knows that forging and stamping are two representative processing methods in today's auto parts processing methods. These two processing methods are widely used in the processing of various parts of automobiles. For example, the largest part of a car is stamped. The stamping parts manufactured by the stamping process are generally characterized by lightness and strength, while the forged parts are superior in rigidity and strength. Different processing methods will obtain different part characteristics, then in the process of automobile processing. Which of the two processing methods is better? Why old drivers prefer forged parts.
1. What is forging, stamping
There are 17-19% forgings on the car by weight. The general car consists of 15 parts, such as the body, the car, the engine, the front axle, the rear axle, the frame, the gearbox, the drive shaft and the steering system. The characteristics of the automobile forgings are complex, light weight, poor working conditions and safety. High standard. For example, crankshafts, connecting rods, camshafts used in automobile engines, front beams required for front axles, knuckles, half shafts used in rear axles, half shaft bushings, transmission gears in bridge boxes, etc. are all related. Security critical forgings for safe operation of cars. Forging is one of the two major components of forging (forging and stamping) by using a forging machine to apply pressure to a metal blank to plastically deform it to obtain a forging having a certain mechanical property, a certain shape and size.
Through forging can eliminate defects such as as-cast looseness caused by metal in the smelting process, optimize the microstructure, and at the same time, the mechanical properties of the forgings are generally better than those of the same materials due to the preservation of the complete metal flow lines. For important parts of the relevant machinery with high load and severe working conditions, forgings are often used except for the available rolled sheets, profiles or welded parts.

2. How to distinguish between forging and stamping
Stamping and forging are the same plastic processing (or press working), collectively referred to as forging. Stamping blanks are mainly hot rolled and cold rolled steel sheets and strips. In general, the biggest difference between stamping and forging is that when punching, the object to be processed is not heated, and the object to be heated during forging is heated to a plastic optimum temperature. The stamping material is usually a sheet and the forged material is usually round steel. The molds used for stamping are fine-sized and usually do not require processing after forming, and forging is usually the manufacture of blanks that require further processing, leaving a certain amount of machining allowance. Compared to castings and forgings, stampings are thin, uniform, lightweight and sturdy. Stamping can produce workpieces with ribs, ribs, undulations or flanging, which are difficult to manufacture by other methods to increase their rigidity. Thanks to the use of precision molds, the precision of the workpiece can be up to micron, with high repeatability and the same specifications. Holes and bosses can be punched out. Cold stampings are usually no longer processed or require only a small amount of processing. The accuracy and surface condition of hot stampings are lower than that of cold stampings, but they are still superior to castings and forgings, and the amount of cutting is small. A forging is an object to which a metal is pressed to shape a desired shape or a suitable compressive force by plastic deformation. This force is typically achieved by using a hammer or pressure. The forging process creates a refined grain structure and improves the physical properties of the metal.
3. Comparison of advantages and disadvantages of forging and stamping
There are many advantages to stamping processing with you: the production efficiency of stamping processing is high, and the operation is convenient, and it is easy to realize mechanization and automation. Parts with large size range and complicated shape generally have no chip waste, less material consumption, no other heating equipment, high production efficiency and stable quality; and the advantages of forging processing are reflected in the excellent characteristics of the machined workpiece. Upper: The coarse grains are crushed into fine and uniform grains and compacted together tightly; the existing pores or shrinkage holes are squeezed and disappear, and the internal structure is tighter; some brittle impurities The pulverized and plastic impurities are elongated as the metal deforms to become a fibrous structure, so that the toughness of the material is greatly enhanced.
On the other hand, stamping and forging have their own limitations. The limitations of stamping: fast machining speed, difficult manual operation, high requirements for mold making, difficult production, high cost, and small scale Production has a lot of limitations. Forging: the processing needs heating, the equipment cost is high, and there are certain restrictions on the processing materials. For high alloy steel and stainless steel, forging is very difficult. The most suitable material for forging processing is medium and low carbon steel, and the degree of forging processing is also Certainly, any material cannot be unrestricted forging, and there are certain restrictions on processing.

The performance of forged parts in the chassis of the car is definitely better than that of stamping parts. However, in recent years, more and more cars have begun to cancel forged parts for the cost, and it has to be said that the wool is on the sheep.
