Presses are usually driven by motors through friction discs to rotate the flywheel rim, so this kind of press is also known as friction press, China's largest friction press is 25 Mega cows. The larger press uses a hydraulic system to drive the flywheel, known as a hydraulic screw press, with a maximum size of 125 MN. Later, an electric press driven by motors directly by flywheels appeared. Its structure is compact and its transmission link is few. Because of frequent commutation, it requires higher control electronics and special motors.
The spinning press has no fixed lower dead point. For larger die forgings, it can be formed by multiple strikes. It can be single, continuous beating and inch moving. The impact force is related to the deformation of the workpiece. When the deformation is large, the impact force is small, and when the deformation is small, such as cold shock, the impact force is large. In these respects, it is similar to forging hammer. But its slider speed is low (about 0.5 m/s, only 1/10 of the forging hammer), the impact force is closed through the frame, so it works smoothly, the vibration is much smaller than the forging hammer, and it does not need a large foundation. The press is equipped with slip insurance mechanism, which limits the maximum strike force to less than 2 times the nominal pressure to protect the safety of the equipment.
The lower part of the press is equipped with a forging ejection device. The screw press has the functions of die forging hammer, mechanical press and other forging and pressing machines. It has strong versatility and can be used in die forging, blanking, drawing and other processes. In addition, screw press, especially friction press, is widely used because of its simple structure and easy manufacture. The disadvantage of screw press is low productivity and mechanical efficiency.
