The gear blank is a mechanical workpiece with teeth on the rim that continuously engages and transmits motion and power. Gear forgings have been used in transmissions for a long time. 1. Gear blank forging
After the forging factory signs a contract with the customer, the material can only be cut into reasonable blanks according to the material requirements, dimensional specifications and other requirements of the drawings. The slab is placed in a hot blast stove, and the slab is heated to burn red. The shape of the blank can be changed after heating. When forging parts are processed in the forging workshop, the forgings will heat the billet on the operator and the hammer or press, forging a reasonable size, and the forging billet should have a machining allowance. The forging blank is then cooled and there are many cooling methods, such as furnace cooling, air cooling, and cold resistance. Appropriate cooling methods should be used depending on the materials and requirements.
2. Gear processing
After the gear blank blank is cooled, the forging blank can be processed in the processing shop. There are many types of gear forging processes. The processing method selected according to the different tooth profiles of the drawings is also different. Commonly used processing methods include hobbing, sawing, shaving, grinding, and the like.
When a disc milling cutter is used to machine a gear, the tool rotates along its axis and the wheel blank moves along its axis. After the groove is milled, the wheel blank returns to its original position, and the gear blank is rotated 360 degrees/z with the indexing head. The two grooves are milled in the same way and repeated until the gears are milled. After shaving, heat treatment can increase the hardness and mechanical properties of the gear forgings. Then grind your teeth. The dimensional accuracy and smoothness of the product meet the requirements of the forged drawings.
3. Gear detection
The finished gear blank forgings are inspected and the product appearance inspection conforms to the customer's drawing size regulations. Tested UT, MT, hardness, carburizing and other drawing requirements. In order to meet the needs of customers, the mechanical properties of gear forgings are mainly tested by yield, tensile, impact and gold equivalent tests. After quality inspection, the finished forgings are processed by rust-proof painting and loaded into the finished warehouse for shipment.
